Membership procedures

Here are just a few pointers about using your membership ID tag and entering the club. Observing these rules helps ensure the best possible experience for everyone.

Do I need to swipe my key tag every time I enter?
Yes, please. It's in your best interest for many reasons. It improves security by distinguishing you from nonmembers. It verifies the unique access privileges you've paid for, protecting the value of your membership. It allows us to monitor total club usage and add staff when attendance spikes. And last, if you'd like to know how often you used our club (say for tax or insurance purposes), it makes printing a usage report easier.

Can I loan my key tag to anyone?
Sorry, but we don't permit that. Allowing someone else to use your key tag will result in immediate termination of your membership. Unfortunately, one strike and you're out.

Can I bring a guest?
Sure, guest fees are $5. All they need is a picture ID and to fill out a brief liability form the first time they come to work out. Special pricing is available for people visiting and looking to work out for more than just one day. Active duty military stationed outside of our geographic area that are home on leave can work out for free if they bring a copy of their orders.

Do you take alternative payments for membership?
If your work, insurance company or social community is interested in helping you pay to improve your health, we are interested in making it work. Just let us know how we can help out and we will make it happen.

What to wear. Where to put it.

What attire is allowed/not allowed?
A shirt and shorts or athletic pants must be worn at all times in the fitness exercise areas. Jeans, work boots, and other nonathletic attire are not permitted in the fitness/exercise areas. Why? Because boots ruin our treadmills and jeans ruin our equipment.

What kind of shoes should I wear to my workout?
Clean and dry shoes. Let me expand upon that: no caked-on mud, no goose poop, no ice or snow, no rain all are contained within the definition of “clean and dry.” Other than that, the options are really limitless. Tennis shoes, running shoes, cross-training shoes, basketball shoes and even no shoes are all appropriate. Of course, if you do choose to work out barefoot, being clean and fungus-free is required. When you work out at our club, you will be lying on the floor — sometimes face down. Think about your karma.

Are there lockers?
Yes, and they're free during hours of operation. Just bring your own lock. Sorry, but we're not responsible for anything left in the locker. Items are not to be left overnight in the lockers. Items left for more than 48 hours will be placed in our lost in found. Locks will be cut in order to remove the items. If you forget your stuff just give us a call.

Are towels provided?
PURENERGY provides complimentary towels for your workouts and the shower. Just drop off your soiled towels on your way out the door and we will have clean ones ready when you return.

What should I bring to group exercise class?
Besides unabashed enthusiasm? Just water and a towel. All equipment is provided. Please tell your instructor if you have any medical conditions or are expecting. For classes that don't require reservations, space is first come, first serve and you may not save a spot for a friend. For safety reasons, we recommend that you do not enter a class after it has begun. Please be quiet and respectful outside of the studio. Lastly, it's crucial – and sometimes mandatory – that you have fun.

Are class reservations recommended?
Some of our classes like Spin and TRX have limited equipment.  Reservations can be made online or at the club (up to 15 minutes before the class starts). If a class is fully reserved, you can request to be placed on the standby.  If you aren't in the studio when class starts, your reservation is forfeited and offered to someone on the standby list. As we grow we will add more classes to the schedule so you will always have an option for taking your favorite class.

There are 2 ways to avoid being charged for the class:

1. You may cancel a class without being charged if you cancel 12 hours or more before the scheduled class. Cancellations that occur within 12 hours of the scheduled class will be charge to your account as if you had consumed the class.

2. If you are able to reach someone at the studio by telephone and cancel your class, your cancellation window is 5 hours. Leaving a message, sending a text or email is NOT considered reaching someone.

Scheduling your attendance in a class or session is managed online through our computer system. The system allows you to add your name to a wait list and if someone cancels, the system will automatically generate and email to the next person on the wait list. If you are on the wait list, please take the following actions…

When you receive the email that says you made it into the class, please reply Yes or No. If the system has to wait for your reply, the next person in line will not get the opportunity to respond. If you are no longer able to take the class, please remove yourself from the wait list.

How do I prep for Spin or TRX?
No one was born on one of these things, so don't hesitate to ask the instructor for help. Arrive 10 minutes early to set up your bike or TRX and request help if you're new.

How do I schedule personal training?
Appointments for personal training can be made through the fitness office by phone or at the desk. To cancel without being charged, you must give us 24 hours' notice.

What if someone besides a staffer offers me training or a service?
Politely decline and please inform a club manager. Members or guests are prohibited from offering services or training, these services are provided exclusively by club personnel.

Payments/refunds FAQ

Let's talk money. Ultimately we rely on your satisfaction. So if ever a situation occurs where you feel there's been an error or something unfair has occurred, please contact us so we may address the matter quickly and thoroughly.

Can I freeze my membership?
For any reason, you may put your membership on hold. Whether you are injured, need to be away, or prefer not to say, it doesn't matter. Freeze requests may be made at the club. Membership freezes are for a minimum of one month, a maximum of 6 months, or any number of whole months in between. During this period you will not be billed your regular monthly dues and you may not use the club or any of its programs or services

Can I add or remove services to my membership?
You certainly can. We love when you upgrade. And if for any reason you'd like to downgrade, we're happy to do that too. All you have to do is submit your request writing or through the front desk and pay the additional fees and dues, if required. No refund of initiation fees will be made as a result of any such change after they have occured. However, if appropriate, an increase or decrease in monthly dues will be made.

Is my membership transferable?

How do I switch credit cards?
It’s easy. Just notify the club of any changes in billing information, address, or telephone number, OR do it online through the Member Services area.  Please keep your billing and contact information current to be sure you get all important notices.

Can I maintain/update my account info online?
Yes. You can join the club or add training or classes by going to  Your first time you'll be asked to register and create a user name and password. From there you can freeze your membership, request a usage report, and update your billing and contact info.

If I miss a class can I get a refund or credit?
There are no refunds or credits for missed classes unless you cancel ahead of time.

What happens if classes or machines are unavailable?
We try our best to have sufficient classes, and equipment. As we grow we will purchase more equipment as needed. Luckily we have the room! But especially during prime time, availability is first come, first served.

Does writing a bad check make me a bad person?
Not necessarily. But you will automatically be charged any bank fee imposed on the club, plus a processing fee of $15, for any returned payment item due to closed accounts, insufficient funds, etc.

Here are some club no-nos. Most of them will seem like common sense, but omitting them would displease our legal counsel.

Can I use chalk?
Please, please, NO CHALK.   We are committed to providing an exceptionally clean place to workout and chalk just doesn't fit into that.

Is there an age limit?
Anyone 12 or older is welcome. Teens 12-15 need to be accompanied by an adult. All minors need a parent or guardian to sign the membership agreement. There's no age limit on the high end. We're talking to you, old barefoot water-skiing guy..

Do you mind if I smoke?
Please, please, NO SMOKING. We are committed to the health of our employees and members (and anyone else who will listen). So smoking anything is prohibited everywhere on our premises, including the area immediately outside the front door. If you choose to use chewing tobacco during workouts please respect our club and the people in it. Clean up after yourself and seal your bottles before throwing them in the trash. Please do not spit in the sinks.

Is it cool to bring a boom box?
Sorry, not cool. Stereo equipment (with the exception of personal stereos using headphones) is prohibited.

What do I do with my bicycle?
If you ride your bicycle to the club, good for you for getting your cardio warm-up before you even enter the club. Just remember to bring a lock to secure your bike outside at our bike rack. Unfortunately, we have no space to safely store bicycles, mopeds, or recreational vehicles inside the clubs.

Gift Certificates

Gift certificates may be purchased by anyone (member or nonmember). Gift certificates may be used towards the purchase of products, services, special programming or membership.

The gift certificate must be presented at the time of redemption. However, it does not have to be used in its entirety. The remaining amount will be available for future purchases. Gift Certificates expire within 1 year of purchase unless otherwise noted.

Whew. Well, if you made it this far, you clearly have enough commitment to make the most of a membership. Now step away from the computer and get to the club!
